Youth Club Pre-school
Safeguarding

Our setting has a duty under the law to help safeguard children against suspected or actual ‘significant harm’. Our employment practices ensure we protect children against the likelihood of abuse in our pre-school, and we have a procedure for managing complaints or allegations against a member of staff.

All of our staff and committee hold a DBS, and undertake regular safeguarding training to ensure they are kept up to date on the latest guidelines and legislation.

By law, (Children Act 1989) our staff have a duty to pass on information where there is a concern about a child’s welfare. This includes any forms of abuse and non-accidental injury. Where there are grounds for concern we are trained and encouraged to put the welfare of the child above all else and seek advice, rather than risk a child’s safety.

We work hard to build and maintain strong relationships with our parents and children which enables us to be aware of any problems that may emerge and can offer support, including referrals to appropriate agencies when necessary and to help families in difficulty. We hope that parents and carers will appreciate how difficult it is for early years staff to carry out this sensitive responsibility and accept that staff are acting in good faith and in the best interests of all children.
